于此同时，footbig 的 照片上传规则 也上线了。
我一向痛恨冗长的文字，而为什么这样冗长的东西会出现在 footbig 呢？
是因为在过去的一个月中，很多人并没有意识到“照片”和“图片”的不同及“分享”和“保存”的不同。于是我看到很多人把各种从互联网上保存下来的图片甚至 Windows 自带的壁纸发到了 footbig。
因此，通过这个上传规则，我想让大家知道的是，footbig 是一个只接受原创照片的地方。
所以，对于那些非原创的照片及各种花哨的非摄影的图片，footbig 的态度是：删除。
我为什么要做这样的事情？我为什么要做 footbig？
如果你曾经读过香农的信息论，那么你或许会知道如何衡量一个 object 的信息量。而我十分讨厌那些信息量为 0 的 object，所以，我是无论如何不会去做一个东西去支持那些信息量为 0 的 object 的。 |

| Getting Real |
|
Conventional wisdom says that to beat your competitors you need to one-up them. If they have four features, you need five (or 15, or 25). If they're spending x, you need to spend xx. If they have 20, you need 30.
This sort of one-upping Cold War mentality is a dead-end. It's an expensive, defensive, and paranoid way of building products. Defensive, paranoid companies can't think ahead, they can only think behind. They don't lead, they follow.
If you want to build a company that follows, you might as well put down this book now.
So what to do then? The answer is less. Do less than your competitors to beat them. Solve the simple problems and leave the hairy, difficult, nasty problems to everyone else. Instead of oneupping, try one-downing. Instead of outdoing, try underdoing.

|
译言是那种让我看到之后就很难忘记的网站。
译言的核心是一个由翻译爱好者组成的社区，他们出于个人爱好的目的把自己喜欢的外语文章翻译成中文，并且通过译言的独特的系统无私地贡献了出来。
在十年前，如果有人想做同样的事情，可能会买一个空间，装一个论坛程序，然后开设几个不同的论坛版面，然后就拉那些和自己有同好的朋友进来玩。接下来，如果一切顺利的话，一个新的“垂直”网站就这么诞生了。
而到了今天这样的一个四处充满叫做 Web 2.0 的潜规则的时代，上面这样的做法已经 out 了，那些叫做 Web 2.0 的潜规则为我们带来了很多新奇的体验：包括更加精良且符合 Web 标准的设计，新奇的甚至也更加简便的内容组织方式，及那些互联网使用经验更加丰富的参与者。
而译言就是这样的一个以翻译为主题的 Web 2.0 网站。我刚刚在 MSN 上和译言的创始人之一张雷前辈结束了一个小时的对话，虽然我关于这个网站的很多疑问还是存在。不过在有一点上，我和张雷有 100% 的同感：“简体中文互联网世界缺乏高质量的内容。”而译言目前正在逐渐汇聚各种高质量的内容，作为一种方向，这是让我振奋的。
或许你会对高质量这个词存疑，而在我看来，这个词所代表的是某一部分人的不满足和他们的定义及追求。而他们现在已经开始动手做了，所以我相信鼓掌会是一件比质疑更有建设性的事情。 |

| 那些单词写在纸上，出于对自己的逻辑和记忆力的自信，于是只有第一个字母被写下了。而在 20 分钟的谈话之后，再回到那张纸的时候，却无论如何想不起来 D 和 A 还有 C 究竟是哪三个单词。这是一件非常难受的事情。当我们的生活充满了太多的假设和心理暗示的时候，一点点的烛光就会生出一个老长的影子，摇晃在颜色无法形容的地毯上。 |

| 收视指南 Blogging |
|
现在中国的各家视频网站在年轻人群中，已经逐渐有了取代电视台的趋势。
传统的电视台在收视指南方面做得是非常成熟的。因为节目播出的时间和长度固定，因此也就有了报纸上的电视节目预报这样的东西。而目前同样的东西在视频网站上似乎还没有出现？
那么，如果通过 Blogging 方式，将特定主题的视频在各个视频网站上出现的时间进行预报，并且加上一定的节目内容简介和点评的话，应该会是一个非常需求的服务。
会有专业的 Blogger 愿意做这样的事情吗？
访问量乃至收入都会是有保证的。 |
